QUICKFACT SHEET

The Fujifilm X-T30 is an advanced-level APS-C mirrorless camera for those who are serious about photography. It has seperate analog-style Shutter Speed dial, Aperture ring, Exposure Compensation dial and Drive dial. The X-T30 also uses the X-Trans sensor used in all higher-level X Series cameras. The X-T30 can be considered as the ‘lite’ version of the X-T3 professional model.

The X-T30 accepts interchangeable lenses using the X mount. Even though the X-T30 does not have in-body image stabilization (IBIS), many of the excellent high quality FUJINON XF lenses have optical image stabilization (OIS).

The X-T30 shoots excellent 26.1MP JPEG images with the faithful and pleasing color reproduction that photographers have come to expect and love from its sensors. The X-T30 is also one of the best video cameras, shooting Ultra High Definition (UHD) 4K/30P videos (no crop). It actually records in 6K (6240×3510) to produce stunning quality in 4K (3810×2160). The camera also supports the DCI format (17:9), which gives a more cinematic look to videos. The FUJIFILM X-T30 adopts high resolution audio recording without the need for additional accessories. F-Log recording and 4:2:2 10bit output via the HDMI port are also supported for more professional-looking videos.

The X-T30 allows you to compose your shots using the high resolution 2.36M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF) or use the 3.0-inch 1.04M-dot Tilt Touchscreen LCD on the back of the camera. The LCD tilts up about 90° and down 45°. The LCD is also touch-screen so you can tap a point on the screen to lock focus, and use touch gestures to swipe right and left when reviewing images.

The Hybrid AF (Auto Focus) system uses a total of 425 AF points to lock focus on your subject. For sharp portraits, Face and Eye Detection AF lock focus on your subject’s face and eyes. The AF low-light performance is EV -3.

Unique to Fujifilm are the Film Simulations that simulate the B&W and color effects of using a particular type of film. The X-T30 has 16 Film Simulations (including ‘ETERNA,’ ‘ACROS’ and ‘CLASSIC CHROME’). Film Simulations can also be applied during video capture to add stylistic effects.

Other features include Continuous Shooting at 20fps (using the electronic shutter, no crop), a built-in pop-up “Super Intelligent” flash (GN approx. 5m/16.4ft), a hot shoe to accept an external speedlite, RAW, PASM Shooting Modes, ±5 stops Exposure Compensation, Shutter Speed from 1/32000 sec. to 30 sec. (flash-sync shutter speed of 1/180 sec.), Bulb (60 min), Advanced Filter, Scene Modes, and Silent Mode.

There are a number of connectivity features that make the X-T30 practical for those who post to social media sites. Built-in Wi-Fi and Bluetooth mean that you can store GPS information, do remote Live View shooting and easily transfer images to your smart phone or tablet.

FUJIFILM X-T30

If you are serious about photography and want a full featured camera that will grow with you as you learn more, then we highly recommend the Fujifilm X-T30. It takes superb images and shoots excellent videos. It is about $500 cheaper than the the X-T3 professional model on which it is based. It is smaller and lighter than the X-T3, but beautifully designed, almost all metal and solidly built. The seperate analog-style control dials (minus the ISO dial) make the camera so intuitive and such fun to shoot with.

If the Fujifilm X-T30 is too expensive or high in specs, and you are looking for something cheaper and easier to use, check out the Fujifilm X-T200 and its companion (without viewfinder) Fujifilm X-A7.
