Sony has announced the A7R VI, featuring a 66.8MP back-illuminated fully-stacked Exmor RS CMOS sensor with up to 16 stops of dynamic range and reduced noise in the mid-sensitivity range; 5-axis image stabilization delivering up to 8.5 stops at the center and 7.0 stops at the periphery; Auto White Balance powered by visible light and infrared (IR) sensor and deep-learning illumination estimation for stable natural color in shaded or indoor scenes; 5.6x faster sensor readout than the previous model, enabling blackout-free continuous shooting at up to approximately 30 fps delivering up to 60 AF/AE calculations per second with AF/AE tracking; and, Real-time Recognition AF+ with skeletal-based human pose estimation and tracking, for reliable focus on fast-moving subjects including athletes and dynamic scenes.

Other features include a 9.44M-dot OLED viewfinder, effective heat management allowing up to 120 minutes of uninterrupted 8K movie recording, dual USB Type-C card slot, and a new NP-SA100 high-capacity battery (2670 mAh) supporting up to 710 still images via LCD monitor or 600 via viewfinder.

The A7R VI will be available in June 2026 for US $4,499.99 / CAD $5,999.99.
