Today, Nikon Canada announced the Z5IIC, a compact full-frame mirrorless camera based on the award-winning Z5II. The Nikon Z5IIC is basically the Z5II minus the electronic viewfinder (and viewfinder housing) to deliver an attractive, sleek, flat-top design. The “C” stands for “Casual” and the camera emphasizes its intuitive controls and automated stills and video features. Its principal target market is first-time mirrorless users who are ready to move up from their smart phone cameras.

Main features of the Z5IIC:

Scene Modes. Fifteen Scene modes, ranging from portraits, pets and food to more challenging situations such as night landscapes and twilight.
Imaging Recipes accessible thru a dedicated button. A full library of recipes, including those created by Nikon Ambassadors and leading creators, is also available on Nikon Imaging Cloud.
Fast, precise Tracking AF built on deep-learning technology automatically detects and tracks people, dogs, cats, birds, vehicles, aircraft and fish,

The Z5IIC is available in two colours; silver and black. It will be available in mid-October 2026 for CAD $1,899.95 (US $1,399.95) body only, or CAD $2,339.95 (US $1,699.95) with the NIKKOR Z 24-50mm f/4-6.3 lens. Outstanding Image Quality Made Possible by a Full-Frame Mirrorless Camera

The Z5IIC pairs a 24.5-megapixel Full Frame backside-illuminated CMOS sensor with Nikon’s EXPEED 7 image-processing engine – the same technology platform used in Nikon’s flagship cameras. Together with NIKKOR Z lenses, it captures rich colour, smooth sunset gradations, natural background blur and cleaner detail in dimly lit scenes. For first-time full-frame users, that means visibly superior photos and videos with less noise and blur, even when the light is challenging.
High-speed continuous shooting at up to approximately 14 fps enables users to capture the decisive moments of fast-moving subjects. Users can also shoot up to 15-30 fps for extreme speed.
The Pre-Release Capture function can be set to record up to one second before the shutter is released in High-Speed Frame Capture + ⁴ mode, which enables continuous shooting at up to 30 fps.

Video Features for all Kinds of Creators

The Z5IIC supports recording at frame sizes and rates up to 4K UHD at 60 fps ⁵ and Full HD at 120 fps, as well as slow-motion recording at 4× and 5× ⁶, making it easy to produce impressive short-form videos without post-processing.
When recording video, the REC lamp / tally light is lit and a red frame indicator is shown around the monitor display, so users know when they’re recording.
Product Review Mode smoothly shifts focus to an item brought close to the camera, making it easy to record review and product centric videos.
Support for H.265 10-bit (MOV) and N-Log ⁷ recording that enables users to take the next step into more advanced video production.
With UVC / UAC support, the camera can also be used for live streaming simply by connecting it to a PC via USB cable, and offers a range of video features.
Recording of N-RAW ⁸ video to an SD memory card is also supported, as well as N-LOG capture.
