Ben Heine is a painter, illustrator, portraitist, caricaturist and photographer who was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast and currently lives and works in Brussels, Belgium. He studied graphic arts and sculpture and also has a degree in journalism. Many years of graphic exploration, artistic experience and a unique vision of the world have helped him develop his very singular style.
In the Pencil vs. Camera series, he injects a pencil drawing into a photograph for a fresh take on what could otherwise well be an ordinary scene.
