Sony is teasing a new camera announcement for Tuesday, August 29, 2023. Rumors are rife that it will be updating its compact full-frame mirrorless camera, the Sony A7C (based on the Sony A7 III), with the Sony A7C II (based on the Sony A7 IV). They may also announce a new compact high-resolution version of that camera, the Sony A7CR (based on the Sony A7R V).

According to leaked specs, the Sony A7C II inherits most of the features of the A7 IV including the 33MP image sensor, 4K/60P video, and a Front Wheel Dial. The EVF may or may not be upgraded to 3.68M dots, though the magnification will most probably stay at a disappointing 0.59x unless Sony redesigns the viewfinder for a larger and brighter image. Many photographers are super excited at the upgrade, but a small viewfinder will be the fly in the ointment.
