REVOLUTIONARY DESIGN UPGRADE MAKES SIGMA’S NEW 18-250MM F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM THE PERFECT ALL-IN-ONE ZOOM LENS

TORONTO, ON., September 5, 2012 – Gentec International is pleased to announce the release of the new Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM, a compact, high-performance, high zoom ratio lens designed specifically for APS-C sensor DSLR cameras. By upgrading the optical and structural design of Sigma’s 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM, the new lens achieves a more compact size, improved performance, and macro capability.

Covering wide-angle to telephoto focal lengths, this versatile lens is suitable for all types of photography. Ideal for travel, it’s the perfect lens when you wish to keep your equipment to a minimum and yet still be prepared for all opportunities and situations. The new lens is also excellent for close-up photography, with a minimum focusing distance of 35 centimetres throughout the entire zoom range, and a maximum magnification ratio of 1:2.9.

The new design features Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material that is incorporated into the lens barrel. Compared to more commonly used polycarbonate, TSC has higher elasticity and lower thermal shrinkage, and it has a high affinity to metal parts, which ensures high-quality lens construction with more compact components. The rugged design includes a brass bayonet mount for enhanced precision and durability.

Sigma’s optical stabilizer (OS) system allows the use of shutter speeds up to four stops slower than would otherwise be possible with handheld photos from macro to telephoto focal lengths or in low-light environments. A Special Low Dispersion (SLD) glass element offers excellent correction of colour aberration. Three aspherical lenses prevent and correct all types of aberrations, achieving superior optical performance throughout the entire zoom range. And the new lens design, combined with Sigma’s Super Multi-Layer Coating, reduces flare and ghosting, providing sharp, high contrast images, even in backlit conditions. The Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) ensures fast and quiet auto-focusing.

The suggested retail price of the Sigma 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC MACRO OS HSM lens is $649.95. The new lens will be available in September for Canon and Nikon cameras.
