Today, Samsung Electronics announced a new campaign for the Samsung NX1, the new premium compact system camera. The campaign is the result of a new partnership with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his open collaborative production company, hitRECord. Titled, “In a City”, the campaign will see the actor and filmmaker direct a short film inspired by cities across the globe shot entirely on the NX1 for 4K UHD viewing.

The film is called #inacity and it’s inspired by the experience of walking through cities – cities all over the world. Through writing and video footage, I wanna capture intimate moments, beautiful textures and grand skylines. But, the only way to tell the story of global cities is to get the perspectives of the people who live in them. No matter where you live in the world, I want you to be a part of making this.
For this project, we’re collaborating w/ Samsung Camera & we’ll be sending out new #NX1 cameras to 5 cinematographers to help make the short film.

As a renowned actor and filmmaker, Joseph Gordon-Levitt will produce a short film using Samsung NX1, a new premium camera

The campaign is the result of a new partnership with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and his open collaborative production company, hitRECord. Titled, “In a City”, the campaign will see the actor and filmmaker direct a short film inspired by cities across the globe shot entirely on the NX1 for 4K UHD viewing.

The ‘In a City’ campaign will see Joseph Gordon-Levitt take to the streets of cities across the world to explore the rhythm of daily life for the people who live there, capturing the experiences and interactions that give each city its unique character.
In addition, the campaign will feature crowd sourced content from hitRECord’s talented community of cinematographers, musicians and lyricists. The Samsung NX1 has advanced features that make filmmaking easier and more enjoyable, supporting both Cinema 4K and Ultra HD (UHD) video recording. Its built-in HEVC Codec (H.265) allows users to compress and store video clips without compromising quality, and its advanced Auto Focus System III with 205 Phase Detection AF points covers nearly the entire imaging area.
Additional benefits to filmmakers include manual exposure control, focus peaking and zebra pattern, as well as microphone and headphone ports. The NX1 is also equipped with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and offers the most advanced connectivity available, even allowing users to watch UHD movies on a UHD TV wirelessly.

About Joseph Gordon-Levitt and hitRECord
Joseph Gordon-Levitt recently wrapped production on the UNTITLED CHRISTMAS EVE PROJECT, with Seth Rogen and Anthony Mackie.
