NEW OLYMPUS VN-SERIES DIGITAL VOICE RECORDERS ARE TWICE AS NICE WITH DOUBLE THE MEMORY

VN-6200 PC is World’s Most Affordable WMA Digital Voice Recorder

CENTER VALLEY, Pa., June 15, 2009 – Just in time for the back-to-school shopping season, Olympus, the world’s leading manufacturer of voice recorders, launches the VN-6000 and VN-6200 PC. The latest VN series digital audio devices now deliver double the storage capacity of previous models with 1GB of internal memory. The VN-6000 features 604 hours of recording time, while the VN-6200 PC allows users to transfer the Windows Media Audio (WMA) files it records to any PC or Mac. Both models also feature multiple recording modes, large LCD screens and functional design elements that make them ideal for the classroom, boardroom and dorm room alike.

In addition, the new VN series recorders have the following unique features:

VN-6000

  • 604 hours of recording time
  • HQ, SP & LP sound quality
  • 39 hours of battery life

VN-6200 PC

  • 444 hours of recording time
  • Windows Media Audio (WMA) recording
  • USB 2.0 high-speed connectivity to your PC/Mac

Quality Meets Quantity
Designed with three high-quality audio recording modes that enable recording times of various lengths, the VN series recorders capture remarkable audio using the HQ mode or the SP and LP modes for extended recording.

Both VN series recorders feature the Variable Control Voice Actuator (VCVA) function, extending recording time by recording only when the microphone senses sound at the preset level. This function is a significant time-saver, reducing the need to fast-forward past pauses in conversation. This function allows a student to set up the VN-6000 or VN-6200 PC to start recording a class before it starts. When the recording is played back later, avoid listening to dead air because the recorder has only picked up the professor’s lecture.

Make the Connection
The new VN-6200 PC incorporates a PC Link, enabling users to transfer audio files and other data to any PC/Mac using the included USB cable. It is not necessary to download any software to the PC to use this function, and Mac users only need to download a free WMA player. This feature enables users to connect with speed and ease, and once downloaded, files can be archived or emailed to friends and family.

Playback Options
Users of the new VN series digital recorders will welcome the control provided by the various playback settings. The Index Mark setting allows them to pinpoint specific pieces of the audio per file to simplify future searches. The VN-6200 PC can hold up to 16 Index Marks per file, while the VN-6000 can hold 10 per file. After a recording is captured, the slow playback option allows recordings to be played at 25 percent slower than real time, assuring more efficient note taking or transcription. The fast playback is 50 percent faster than real time, allowing users to skip ahead to essential segments.

The VN-6000 comes equipped with an alarm playback mode, allowing you to manage your time appropriately and play the selected audio.

Intelligent & Stylish Design
Given their thin, lightweight, compact design, the VN series digital audio devices make ideal travel companions. Both devices have large, easy-to-read LCD screens that reveal file information and recording time.

A speaker for audio playback is located on the back of each recorder. Both models are equipped with easy-to-reach buttons allowing the user to play, stop, fast-forward and rewind with a simple touch of a figure. The record and erase buttons are positioned individually for easy access and to eliminate confusion when handling.

The VN-6000 makes a fashion statement with a sleek brown design, while the VN-6200 PC has a lustrous silver body.

File Management
The VN series digital audio devices deliver an easy-to-use interface that enables users to accurately arrange digital files with unparalleled organization for meetings, dates and reminders. The VN-6000 has four folders (each holds 100 files) and the VN-6200 PC has five folders (each holds 200 files). The VN-6200 PC also includes multi-language support in English, French and Spanish.

Lasting Power, Lasting Value
The VN series digital devices allow for extended continuous recording (39 hours for the VN-6000 and 36 hours for the VN-6200 PC) made possible by the long battery life of two AAA alkaline batteries. The new devices also feature a one-year warranty.

Availability
The VN-6000 and VN-6200 PC will be available in July 2009. Both ship with a carrying case, two AAA alkaline batteries, an instruction manual and an Olympus warranty card.
