Kodak Shows Functioning Prototypes of the Super 8 Cine Camera

Back in January of last year at CES 2016, Kodak announced it was working on a Super 8 Cine Camera. Today, at CES 2017, it showed functioning prototypes of the Super 8 Cine Camera.

Also, in related news, Kodak announced that it is working to reformulate and manufacture KODAK EKTACHROME Film for both motion picture and still photography applications. Initial availability is expected in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Kodak Brings Functional Prototypes of new Super 8 Camera to CES

Las Vegas, NV, Thursday, January 05, 2017 —

Since the overwhelming response to Kodak’s Super 8 Revival launched a year ago, Kodak has been working to develop a camera and film processing ecosystem to match the excitement.  At the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), visitors to The Kodak Studios – located at LVCC South Hall 1, Booth# 20619 – can see functioning prototype models of the new Limited Edition KODAK Super 8 camera in action and view test footage demonstrating the camera’s ability to capture 8mm images with incredible quality.

Over the past few months, engineers have been working, filmmakers have been testing and the camera is on its way. In addition to the Limited Edition camera, the company is developing a range of cameras to suit all types of users at various price points.

The Limited Edition Super 8 camera will be available in Spring 2017, with consumer versions to follow.
