Classic. Retro. Beautiful. Three words that come immediately to mind when you first see the Fujifilm FinePix X100. The X100 is designed for photography, with the main controls falling naturally at your fingertips. You’ll find a shutter speed dial on the top, an aperture ring around the lens (where it should be), and a hybrid viewfinder that lets you choose from optical, EVF or both. The FinePix X100 features 12.3MP resolution (APS-C CMOS), a fixed focal length lens at 23mm (equiv.), and a 2.8-in. LCD display screen (460k-dot) in a beautifully crafted body with die-cast magnesium top and base as well as metal dials and rings.

The FinePix X100 features the first Hybrid Viewfinder. You can use it as an optical viewfinder or an electronic viewfinder (1.44 million dots). In both cases, an integrated high-definition LCD panel overlays shooting information if desired. Selecting between the two is controlled by a small switch on the fron tof the camera that looks like a self-timer on a traditional 35mm film camera.

The X100 has a fixed lens (i.e. not interchangeable) with a fixed focal length of 23mm (equiv.). Aperture range is F2-F16 in 1/3EV step, controlled by a 9-blade diaphragm.

You won’t find a Mode Dial on the X100 because there is no need for one. When you set both the shutter speed dial and aperture ring to “A”, the camera is automatically in P mode and will select both a shutter speed and aperture for you. Does the scene call for a fast or slow shutter speed? Simply rotate the shutter speed dial to the appropriate value and the camera is automatically in Shutter-Priority mode and will select the correct aperture for you. If the scene rather calls for a large aperture (to decrease depth of field) or small aperture (for maximum depth of field), simply rotate the aperture ring to the appropriate value and the camera is automatically in Aperture-Priority mode and will select the right shutter speed for you. Want to control both? Just select the desired shutter speed and aperture values and the camera is automatically in Manual mode. It couldn’t be simpler that that!

You can shoot High-Definition (HD) movie 1280×720 pixels (720p) at 24fps with stereo sound.

The FinePix X100 also continues to offer the popular Film Simulation Modes and expanded dynamic range, both with auto bracketing.

The looks go far beyond skin deep and the Fujifilm FinePix X100 captures excellent image quality. Find out why the X100 is the talk of the town from all the pro photographers. It is priced at about US $1199.95 (CAD $1199.99).
