The picture they circulated shows the duck caught with wings outstretched, flying low to the ground as though trying to evade radar detection.
Now, what we, photographers, are interested in, of course, is the camera used to take the picture. I know, up here in Toronto, Canada, it’s most probably a Nikon in the white sealed box. That picture from Koeniz looked a bit grainy and the duck was also a bit blurred. Its left eye was clearly visible but did not look tack sharp, so the camera couldn’t be a Sony.
I recommend that Swiss police rethink the traffic speed camera they use. That new mirrorless camera should feature the latest Tracking AF with Eye-Detect: they would want to clearly identify the offending mallard and not mistake a different innocent duck. To be able to catch the duck in the act at the right moment flying irresponsibly at that insane speed 22km/h above the posted speed limit, the camera should also feature Pre-Capture. Lastly, the camera must have Auto Subject Detection, so it can clearly differentiate between 4-wheeled and 2-winged offenders automatically. So, I recommend a….
