Skiers going up on the ski lift at St Francois-Longchamp, France on Friday 2nd March 2012 got an unexpected once-in-a-lifetime experience: a massive 8 meter avalanche raced toward them, nearly engulfed them and ended up destroying the ski lift. Fortunately no one was hurt and 41 skiers were safely airlifted by helicopters.
