International Pinhole Photography Day April 24

April 24 is the International [Worldwide] Pinhole Photography Day. I guess you are supposed to go make yourself a pinhole camera and, if you are motivated to do so, there are lots of videos and instructions online on how to make one. Search our archives for some of the most interesting ones. In fact, here is a colorful one from Corbis (with more fanciful ones to choose from).

The idea behind a pinhole camera is simple: a black box with a small hole to let the light in. The smaller the hole, the greater the depth of field, hence the sharper the image — though the longer the exposure required. Here’s a video on how to build yourself a digital pinhole camera… the lazy way.

Or, if you’re like me, just switch to Pinhole Scene Mode, and you’d be done for today! Digital has its advantages.
