Hers is also the personal story of the dramatic birth of her first child on the day Katrina struck, of her personal struggle with depression, of her husband’s rage episodes, and of their eventual return to New Orleans. Clever Old Spice Mano a Mano Challenge Ads

Wed July 27, 2011

From oldspice

It looks like a personal challenge from Fabio to Isaiah Mustafa about who is the rightful owner of the Old Spice Guy title. Mustafa replies (in a video, of course) that he accepts the challenge. And so it begins all through yesterday with users getting to vote for who they want to be the Old Spice Guy. There are 60+ videos, including an old fashioned staring contest.

However, if you look at the YouTube owner byline, it’s all by Old Spice. It’s all a clever series of video ads to engage viewers and bring the Old Spice label top of mind, perhaps forever (at least for this generation).

Usually, a safari photographer would load up on the long lenses to get up close, but the shorter focal lengths allowed interesting story-telling pictures.

Wed July 27, 2011

When you need to get the job done — and can’t wait for Apple to decide whether your app should be approved or not — NASA scientists turn to an Android-powered Nexus One to control robots in space.

“The availability of the Android source code allows us to customize the smartphone to be used as a compact, low-cost, low-power computer, rather than just as a phone,” said Mark Micire, a software engineer in NASA’s Ames Intelligent Robotics Department.

Apple? Not to worry, NASA intends to use the iPad for “breathtaking videos and images.”
