The Navy tests its Laser Weapon System (LaWS), a six-laser cannon guided by the Phalanx Block 1B Close-In Weapon sensors which identifies and tracks targets using electro-optical systems, measuring the range using radio frequency sensors. The energy of the six laser beams on one single point generates enough heat to take down the target.
