Happy New Year 2017!

Thank you once again for your support during 2016! We saw lots of new and interesting cameras, and mirrorless made major improvements in Tracking AF speed. Continuous Shooting while accurately tracking the subject with AF is undoubtedly the last frontier for professional mirrorless cameras.

Will 2017 be the year mirrorless finally reach full maturity? For that to come true, the mirrorless camera manufacturers have to also focus on bringing out quality lenses in the focal lengths and aperture combinations photographers demand. After all, a camera is only as good as the lenses and accessories it makes available to amateurs and pros. For example, the super telephoto category still remains woefully under-represented and, until they are provided with a winning mirrorless alternative, we’ll have to wait a long time before pros shooting sports and wildlife switch to mirrorless.

This is at least a couple of (or five) years away, depending on whether 2017 and beyond see the development of new mirrorless technology or simply a refresh of models. We see three major improvement areas before pro mirrorless cameras can dethrone the pro DSLRs:

  1. Accurate and fast Tracking AF in C-AF shooting.
  2. New battery technology (boosting number of frames to the thousands).
  3. Better (much, much, MUCH better) lenses.

So, stay tuned and, with your continued support, we will bring you the articles, tutorials, news and reviews of the best digital cameras in 2017.

We wish you and your family a safe, prosperous and Happy New Year 2017! Bonne et heureuse année 2017!
