NASA Selects Android-Powered Nexus One Smartphone To Control Robots In Space

When you need to get the job done — and can’t wait for Apple to decide whether your app should be approved or not — NASA scientists turn to an Android-powered Nexus One to control robots in space.

“The availability of the Android source code allows us to customize the smartphone to be used as a compact, low-cost, low-power computer, rather than just as a phone,” said Mark Micire, a software engineer in NASA’s Ames Intelligent Robotics Department.

Apple? Not to worry, NASA intends to use the iPad for “breathtaking videos and images.”

Today, Microsoft Canada announced that Windows Live Photo Gallery 2011 will now support RAW format images. So, you can now view RAW files right in Windows Photo Gallery and Windows Explorer.

The Microsoft Camera Codec Pack is for Windows 7 and Vista and allow you to view and edit RAW files, JPEG, PNG, TIFF for more than 120 DSLR cameras.

Ranging from Colour Laser Multifunction Printers (MFPs) (Colour imageCLASS MF8380Cdw/MF8080Cw) to Monochrome Laser MFPs (imageCLASS MF5960dn/5950dw, imageCLASS MF4570dw and imageCLASS MF3010), these new products collectively help meet the needs of consumers, small office /home office (SOHO) users, and workgroups.
