Photoxels

Snap! Well, 15 minutes later, a 3D Figurine.

This might well foreshadow the cameras of the future: instead of taking a photo that gets printed or displayed on screen, why not print a 3D figurine instead? Sure, a 3D printer is still expensive and you have to stand still for a full 15 minutes while the “photographer” scans you in. But it’s just a matter of time before prices go down and someone designs a simple solution that will literally take a millisecond snapshot. Imagine your own chess pieces!
