Animation of World’s Ocean Currents

From djxatlanta

This is an animation of some of the world’s ocean currents. The visualization shows ocean surface currents around the world during the period from June 2005 through Decmeber 2007 and was produced using NASA/JPL’s computational model called ECCO2 (Estimating the Circulation and Climate of the Ocean, Phase II). Note that this is not from actual photographs but a computer simulation of ocean flows. The video is mesmerizing in its beauty and would make a cool screensaver. (via geekologie)
