PRESS RELEASE

“Dheepan”, shot on Sony CineAlta F55 camera,
wins the Palme d’Or at the 68th Cannes Film Festival

Cannes, 26 May 2015: French director Jacques Audiard has won the Palme d’Or at the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival ceremony on Saturday night with his film “Dheepan”, cinematography by Eponine Momenceau.

The award-winning film, shot on Sony CineAlta F55, tells the story of a former Tamil Tiger fighter looking for a new life in France. This is the second prize for Audiard in Cannes: his feature film “A Prophet” won the Grand Prize in 2009.

The director of photography Eponine had experienced the Sony F55 and found that the rendering of the skin tones and colors were really truthful. She is extremely glad to have chosen this compact and lightweight camera since all the shots were captured handheld.

This is the second year in a row that the winner of the Palme d’Or and their film has been shot on Sony CineAlta. Only last year, Nuri Bilge Ceylan won the Palme d’Or for his movie “Winter Sleep”, shot on F65, cinematography by Gökhan Tiryaki.
