FUJIFILM North America Corporation has officially launched the latest model in a long line of iconic, portable and compact cameras, the X100V.
This is the fifth iteration in Fujifilm’s X100 Series of premium compact fixed-lens cameras, and brings much welcomed improvements:
Fujifilm X100V, Silver: New 26MP X-Trans Sensor
- The same 26MP sensor as used in the top-of-the-line X-T3 and X-Pro3 mirrorless cameras, so promises great image quality.

Fujifilm X100V (Silver)
- A completely redesigned 23mmF2 lens (35mm equivalent), enhanced for better resolution, lower distortion and improved close focus performance.

- The 3-inch (1.62M-dot resolution) LCD display on the back now tilts up and down (at last!) and is also touch-enabled (the LCD on the previous model X100F did not tilt and was not touch enabled). A nice design touch is that the LCD folds down flush against the body.

- The electronic viewfinder of its hybrid optical/electronic viewfinder is now a higher resolution OLED display: 0.52x magnification optical viewfinder (OVF) / 3.69M-dot OLED electronic viewfinder (EVF).

- An upgraded AF system features enhanced Face Detection and low-light capability, allowing focus lock in shooting situations as dark as -5EV.

- A new native ISO range of 160-12800, plus expanded ISO 80, ISO 100, ISO 125, ISO 25,600 and ISO 51,200.
- Video is upgraded to 4K/30p, with internal F-log.
- Faster Continuous Shooting at 11fps (38 JPEG or 17 RAW) with the mechanical shutter, 20fps with the electronic shutter.

- Another improvement that might prove popular with photographers who want to be able to keep the lens wide open at F2 on bright sunny days (for blurred backgrounds) is the increased 4-stop reduction (up from 3 stops on X100F) of the built-in ND (neutral density) Filter.
Fujifilm X100V: Optional weather resistance for the complete camera via the optional AR-X100 adapter ring and the PRF-49 protection filter
- Finally, the X100V body (but not the front part of the lens) is now (again, at last!) weather-resistant; screw on the optional AR-X100 adapter ring and the PRF-49 protection filter, and the X100V (body and lens) can now be considered completely weather resistant.

The Fujifilm X100V retains its defining retro analog-style dedicated controls for setting shutter speed, ISO, exposure compensation and aperture that set the camera miles apart from any of its competitors, and made it such a joy to use. It, unfortunately, loses the physical Selector dial (and its three customizable function buttons), but replaces it with virtual UP-DOWN-LEFT-RIGHT swipes on the touch-sensitive LCD, with functions assignable to each of the swipe. Another subtle change is that the Shutter Speed/ISO dial is not spring-loaded anymore, but stays up to change ISO (with welcomed clicks) and has to be pushed back down to change shutter speed.

Finished with a beautiful satin coating, slight enhancements have also been made to the camera’s grip, ISO dial, and lens barrel to make it incredibly comfortable to hold and operate. Weather resistance appears for the first time in the X100 line when the optional AR-X100 adapter ring and the PRF-49 protection filter are attached. Additionally, a new two-way tilting touchscreen LCD screen fits flush at the back of the camera and provides intuitive touch controls, unlocking even more possibilities for image-makers to see, frame, and create images.

At the heart of X100V is the state-of-the-art X-Trans CMOS 4 sensor and X-Processor 4 combination. The exceptional 26.1MP sensor uses a back-illuminated design to maximize quality and dynamic range, while its unique color filter array controls moiré and false color without the need for an optical low pass filter. Such outstanding imaging capability is complemented by the quad-core X-Processor 4. This powerful CPU not only ensures images are quickly and smoothly processed, but also, thanks to a new algorithm, boosts AF performance with precision face and eye detection down to -5EV.

Two ways to see an image
X100V’s vastly improved hybrid viewfinder enables image-makers to quickly and easily choose between the 0.52x magnification optical viewfinder (OVF) or the 3.69M dot OLED electronic viewfinder to make their images. Offering 95% frame coverage, the OVF provides parallax-correcting frame lines to provide an uninterrupted view of the world, while the camera’s EVF delivers a real-time representation of the image as it is being made. The Electronic Rangefinder (ERF) function can also be selected to display a small EVF at the bottom right corner of the OVF, which gives image-makers another helpful tool as they frame and make their images.
More than just a still camera
X100V offers the ability to record 4K video at up to 30 frames per second or capture 120 frames per second at 1080p to create super slow motion effects. Filmmakers needing extreme color fidelity can record 10-bit, 4:2:2 color externally via the HDMI port and leverage Fujifilm’s advanced color reproduction technology, to apply film simulations, like “Eterna”, to their video footage. Additionally, image makers can also incorporate numerous shooting functions, such as “Monochrome Adjustments” and “Color Chrome” to extend their creative visions directly to the footage being recorded.

Optional accessories
Fujifilm wide conversion lens (WCL-X100 II)
Use the wide conversion lens (WCL-X100 II) or tele-conversion lens (TCL-X100 II) to extend X100V’s fixed 23mm focal length to a 28mm equivalent (0.8x) or 50mm (1.4x) equivalent lens on a 35mm format system.

Add a premium, genuine leather case (LC-X100V) to X100V to complement its classic design, while giving complete access to the camera’s battery and memory card without removing the X100V from its case.

Conçu pour offrir une mise au point rapprochée améliorée, une résolution supérieure et un niveau de distorsion minimal, cet objectif est beaucoup plus efficace que les objectifs X100 précédents mais présente les mêmes dimensions et la même compatibilité avec les objectifs de conversion WCL et TCL existants, en plus d’intégrer un filtre à densité neutre maintenant réglable sur quatre paliers.
Au cœur du X100V se trouve une combinaison puissante à la fine pointe de la technologie : le capteur X-Trans CMOS 4 et le moteur X-Processor 4. Notre capteur exceptionnel à 26,1 mégapixels est rétroéclairé pour maximiser la qualité et la plage dynamique, tandis qu’un réseau de filtres colorés unique permet de contrôler les effets moirés et les fausses couleurs, sans qu’un filtre optique passe-bas soit nécessaire. Notre moteur X-Processor 4 à quatre unités centrales vient optimiser la performance, assurant non seulement un traitement d’image rapide et uniforme, mais aussi – grâce à un nouvel algorithme – une détection des visages et des yeux précise durant la mise au point automatique, maintenant possible jusqu’à -5 EV.

De plus, les cinéastes peuvent utiliser diverses fonctions dynamiques, par exemple «Réglages monochromes» et «Effet ‘Chrome couleur’», pour personnaliser directement leurs enregistrements.
