The Nikon D700 Digital SLR is Nikon’s second full frame DSLR featuring the 12.1-megapixel FX-Format CMOS Sensor used in the D3. The D700 follows in the footsteps of the D3 and D300 (“almost a D3 in the body of a D300”) with claims of exceptional image quality, broad tonal range and depth, and extremely low noise throughout its native ISO range of 200 to 6400.
The D700 is housed in a high-strength magnesium alloy construction and is weather sealed with advanced dust and moisture protection. It boasts near-instant power-up in 0.12 seconds, a shutter release time lag of a mere 0.40 milliseconds and can record full-resolution JPEG images at 5fps (8fps with the optional MB-D10 battery pack) for up to 100 images, or up to 17 lossless 14-bit Nikon NEF (RAW) files.
Other key features:
- 3.0-inch 920,000-dot VGA color monitor with 170-degree wide-angle viewing and tempered-glass protection
- Fast, accurate 51-point autofocus with 3D Focus Tracking and three Dynamic AF modes for exacting autofocus precision at blazing speeds
- EXPEED image processing engine with 12-channel readout
- Scene Recognition System (SRS)
- Picture Control settings
- Active D-Lighting
- Virtual Horizon Indicator
- Compliant with next-generation high-speed UDMA CF cards that will enable recording speeds up to 35 megabytes/second.
The Nikon D700 DSLR raises the bar in the advanced amateur photographer category with a versatile full-frame DSLR with exceptional low noise high ISO characteristic.
