Fujifilm Recalls Certain AC-5VF Power Adapter Wall Plugs That Were Packaged with Certain Digital Camera Models, Due to Shock Hazard

Fujifilm voluntarily recalled certain AC-5VF power adapter wall plugs that were packaged with certain digital camera models.

  • The power adapter wall plug can crack, break or detach and remain in the wall and expose live electrical contacts, posing a shock hazard.
  • The recalled wall plugs are black and are combined with a power adapter and USB cord that plugs into the adapter.
  • Model number “AC-5VF” is printed on the back of the power adapter. The serial number is printed on the bottom of the camera or under the battery compartment lid.
  • About 270,000 units were sold in the U.S.A.
  • In addition, about 24,000 were sold in Canada.

Only wall plugs included with the following cameras with certain serial numbers are being recalled:

XP90, XP95, XP120, XP125, X-A3 and X-A10 sold from:

  • (i) June 2016 for XP90/XP95 cameras,
  • (ii) January 2017 for XP120/XP125 cameras,
  • (iii) October 2016 for X-A3 cameras, and
  • (iv) February 2017 for X-A10 cameras,

Consumer safety is our top priority, so in cooperation with the United States Consumer Products Safety Commission and Health Canada, Fujifilm has initiated a recall of certain AC-5VF power adapter wall plugs that were packaged with certain digital camera models manufactured by FUJIFILM Corporation in Japan and sold in the United States through FUJIFILM North America Corporation and in Canada through FUJIFILM Canada, Inc. While there have been no reported injuries, there is a risk that the wall plug may crack, break or detach and remain in the outlet exposing live electrical contacts and posing a shock hazard. Only wall plugs included with XP90, XP95, XP120, XP125, X-A3 and X-A10 cameras sold from (i) June 2016 for XP90/XP95 cameras, (ii) January 2017 for XP120/XP125 cameras, (iii) October 2016 for X-A3 cameras, and(iv) February 2017 for X-A10 cameras, with certain serial numbers are being recalled.

All consumers should immediately stop using any affected wall plug. Cameras are not affected. You may continue to use your camera and charge your camera via the USB cable plugged into a personal computer.

Choose the model of your digital camera and its serial number in the search tool at http://www.fujifilmusa.com/support/recall/index.html .

If your digital camera is not listed, you can use your wall plug without any concern.

1. Reload the screen at http://www.fujifilmusa.com/support/recall/index.html .

  • Windows (Internet Explorer / Google Chrome / FireFox), hold down the “Control” key and “F5” key
  • Macintosh (Safari / Google Chrome), hold down the “Command” key and “R” key
  • Macintosh (FireFox), hold down the “Command”, “Shift” and “R” keys

2. Choose the model name of the digital camera.
3. Type the serial number (8-digit alphabets and numbers) of the digital camera.
4. Press the “Search” button for the result.

Exchange Process
If you have an affected wall plug, please contact our customer service department via email at productsafety@fujifilm.com or by telephone at 1-833-613-1200. Customer service representatives will be available by telephone at 1-833-613-1200, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. ET Monday-Friday.

You will need to provide customer service your name, address, telephone number and the model name and serial number of the camera accompanying the wall plug unit.

Fujifilm will arrange to mail you a free replacement wall plug and associated adapter unit. Please save the box containing the replacement products and use it to return the recalled wall plug and associated adapter unit to Fujifilm at no charge using the return label that will be included in the box. The inside cover of the box will also describe the simple return process. In order to avoid any confusion between the replacement wall plug and associated adapter units and those being returned, we have marked all replacement wall plugs and associated adapters with a white dot in indelible ink.
