2. Product features

FUJINON UA46x13.5BERD

(1) World’s highest* 46x zoom and longest focal length** of 621mm as a portable 4K broadcast lens

  • The UA46x13.5 uses the multi-group zoom system, which moves multiple lens groups to zoom, and large-diameter aspherical lens elements applied with precision processing, to achieve the world’s highest* 46x magnification as a portable 4K broadcast lens. Focus blur during zooming, which high-magnification zoom lenses are susceptible to, has been minimized to deliver clear footage across the entire zoom range.
  • The UA46x13.5 covers the focal lengths ranging from 13.5mm in wide angle to the world’s longest 621mm in telephoto>**. The use of ED and fluorite lens elements*** has effectively mitigated axial chromatic aberration*** and transverse chromatic aberration*4, typically seen when shooting at telephoto-end focal lengths. This produces dynamic video footage, capturing even the facial expression of a distant athlete in high definition in live sports broadcast.
*** Lens element made of fluorite, which has a characteristically small chromatic dispersion in refractive indices. It enables optical design with minimal chromatic aberration.
*4 Aberration caused because there are different refractive indices for different wavelengths of light. Axial chromatic aberration refers to the blurring of an image caused by a lens’s failure to focus all colors, and transverse chromatic aberration refers to color bleeding at frame edges.

(2) Cutting-edge optical design technology for rich tonal gradation

  • Fujifilm’s proprietary “HT-EBC (High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating)” multi-layer coating technology enhances light transmittance for vivid color reproduction and high contrast. This enables HDR video production, capturing rich tonal gradation even at sunset and in bright sunlight, where contrastis large.
  • The lens produces video of higher image quality even when mounted on an HD broadcast camera.

(3) Use of the proprietary anti-vibration mechanism to support 4K video production

  • The lens features a high-performance gyro sensor to accurately detect even the smallest of vibrations.
  • The lens uses an anti-vibration mechanism based on the proprietary “ceramic ball roller system.” Ceramic balls, formed with precision processing, are deployed at the drive unit to minimize friction resistance during anti-vibration operation, accurately correcting image blurs caused by wind or shaking of your footing without any time lag.
  • The lens mitigates stuttering*5, which often occurs while panning your camera horizontally, in order to maintain framing as intended by the videographer.
*5 Phenomenon in which video equipment detects panning operation as vibration and activates image stabilization, bringing the framing backward slightly after shooting

(4) Use of a high-performance drive unit for comfortable operability

  • The lens uses a high-performance drive unit to boost the zooming, focusing and iris-driving speed for comfortable operation. Smooth zooming enables accurate tracking of a fast-moving subject.
  • The 16-bit encoder6, which comes stock standard, can handle high resolution output of lens data including zoom and focus positions. It enables connection with various systems such as a virtual studio for combining computer graphics with live video footage.
*6 A sensor that converts location data into digital signals. It divides data in 16-bit resolution and feeds zoom / focus position data in electrical signals.

(5) Natural bokeh achieved with nine-blade diaphragm

  • The use of 9-blade diaphragm achieves an aperture shape closer to a perfect circle. Incorporate beautiful soft lights and natural bokeh into your video expressions.

FUJINON UA70x8.7BESM

(2) Cutting-edge optical design to produce dynamic 4K footage in a diverse range of scenes

  • The floating focus system, which controls multiple lens groups according to the shooting distance, minimizes fluctuations in optical performance, caused by shooting distance changes. This allows the lens to deliver sharp footage across all shooting distances from close-up to infinity.
  • Fujifilm’s proprietary “HT-EBC” multi-layer coating technology enhances light transmittance to reproduce clear and vivid colors with minimal noise.
  • The lens uses an anti-vibration mechanism, which accurately corrects even camera shakes caused by movements of your footing to deliver stable video footage.
  • The lens produces video of higher image quality even when mounted on an HD broadcast camera.

(3) Natural bokeh achieved with nine-blade diaphragm

  • The use of 9-blade diaphragm achieves an aperture shape closer to a perfect circle. Incorporate beautiful soft lights and natural bokeh into your video expressions.

(4) Stock-standard 16-bit encoder

  • The 16-bit encoder, which comes stock standard, can handle high resolution output of lens data including zoom and focus positions. It enables connection with various systems such as a virtual studio for combining computer graphics with live video footage.
