Olympus Explorer Series Binoculars Offer High Optical Performance at Budget Price

A monocular is for spying, no matter how you want to whitewash it, and it’s for just stealing a quick look. But for serious and sustained nature, wildlife, bird and sporting events observation where you spend a long time looking through your glass, you need a high quality binocular that allows you to use both eyes for a stereoscopic view. Something like the new Explorer Series from Olympus. There are three models to choose from: 8x magnification (8×40 S), 10x magnification (10×50 S), or 8-16x zoom (8-16×40 S). They are quite affordably priced, too.

PRESS RELEASE

NEW EXPLORER SERIES BINOCULARS FROM OLYMPUS: 8×40 S / 10×50 S / 8-16×40 S

High Optical Performance with a Wide Field-of-View In a Lightweight and Ergonomic Design

Center Valley, PA, October 14, 2020 – Olympus is excited to introduce the Explorer series of binoculars, featuring a wide field-of-view and high optical performance for nature observation, wildlife, birdwatching and sporting events, in a brand new ergonomic design. The 8×40 S, 10×50 S and 8-16×40 S are perfect for those who like to travel light. All elements have been arranged precisely for a compact, lightweight design. A special coating ensures an anti-slip grip. The wide field-of-view allows accurate tracking of fast-moving subjects such as birds or athletes. Aspherical optics provide sharp images up to the periphery while reducing image distortion. Single-layer coated lenses and prisms deliver crystal clear, extra bright and high-resolution images. A focusing distance as close as 4, 6 or 10m, depending on the model, allows the user to follow animals almost motionlessly as they approach. Magnification factors vary from 8x or 10x magnification to a powerful 8-16x zoom. For detailed product specifications visit https://www.getolympus.com/binoculars/the-explorer-series.html.

Wide field of view
A wide field of view makes locating a subject quicker and easier, particularly when panning a wide area or tracking fast-moving subjects, such as birds, athletes or cars. Never miss the action with the broader field of view provided by the Explorer Series’ large-diameter objective lenses.

High optical performance for minimal chromatic aberration
In the Explorer Series, every lens element and prism is designed and coated to minimize chromatic aberrations and distortion, resulting in images with the highest quality and clarity. Porro Prism technology provides a high-definition stereoscopic view and edge-to-edge clarity that is best-in-class. Packed with high quality optics, including aspherical lenses, for a distortion-free view. Lenses and prisms are single-layer coated to deliver high-resolution results with superb transmittance. The large objective lens diameter offers bright high-resolution images even in low-light. A magnification factor of 10 provides an image as if the user were 10 times closer to the subject. The Explorer series offers magnifications between 8x and 16x. The 8×40 S with 8x magnification and the 10×50 S with 10x magnification are ideal for discovering expansive nature views with ease. Additionally, the powerful zoom of the 8-16×40 S is a great advantage if there is no opportunity for the user to get closer to the object.

Lightweight and ergonomic design
The development focus of Olympus standard binoculars 8×40 S, 10×50 S and 8-16×40 S was on portability and ease-of-use for the customer. Equipped with the optimal number of lens elements, Explorer binoculars boast a sleek, lightweight and portable design.

An anti-slip, anti-reflective polymer finish suppresses light reflections and allows the user to blend into their surroundings, ideal for observing nature and wildlife. In addition, a new elastic polymer grip guarantees a safe hold and high portability for zero fatigue when carried for a long period of time. The large, intuitive and easy-to-reach focus adjustment dial, adopted from the Olympus PRO series binoculars, ensures effortless operation.

The Olympus Explorer series of binoculars include a strap and soft case in the box and will be available for pre-order at participating local authorized retailers, or at www.getolympus.com, and will begin shipping in late October, 2020.
