Nikon D3s Review @ SteveHuff Photo

Tue January 12, 2010

Nikon D3s

Nikon D3s

Yes, the Nikon D3s is the current LOW LIGHT/NO LIGHT champion.

We’ve added another Nikon D3s [Specs] review to our Reviews Matrix. Is the Nikon D3s the best DSLR camera ever?

SteveHuff Photo has published his review of the Nikon D3s. He loves the low noise at high ISO capability of this DSLR camera: “BRAVO to Nikon on the D3s. Amazing high ISO capabilities push this one over the top!” But, in the final analysis, Steve decides that the size of the D3s just does not make it an everyday camera for him: “there is just no way in hell I would take this camera with me everywhere like I do my M9.”

You can read the full Nikon D3s Review (with samples of high ISO images) at: SteveHuff Photo.

The Leica M9 Review @ SteveHuff Photo

Mon January 11, 2010

Leica M9

Leica M9

I also used electrical tape to tape over the red dot and white M9 inscription. To me, this hides the M9’s profile even more.

We’ve added another Leica M9 [Specs] digital rangefinder camera review to our Reviews Matrix.

Ashwin Rao has published his review of the Leica M9 over at SteveHuff Photo. Under the highly complimentary title “The Leica M9 – Travel Camera Extraordinaire,” Ashwin’s stated goal is “to convince you that the Leica M9 is THE travel camera to have and use.”

You can read Ashwin’s full Leica M9 Review at: SteveHuff Photo.

Leica X1 Review @ SteveHuff Photo

Tue January 5, 2010

Leica X1

Leica X1

[For] Those who want the highest quality compact on the market and do not need blazing AF.

We’ve added another Leica X1 [Specs] review to our Reviews Matrix. The Leica X1 is the first of its kind compact non-DSLR with a 12.2MP APS-C sized CMOS sensor (23.6 x 15.8 mm). It has a non-interchangeable LEICA ELMARIT 1:2.8/35 mm (equiv.) lens.

SteveHuff Photo has published his review of the Leica X1. He asks the question, “Is this the best compact digital camera ever?” and compares its image quality and performance against the Micro Four-Thirds Digital Interchangeable Lens cameras. As expected, he finds the X1 to be sleek, sexy and gorgeous. But is it worth the US $2K asking price?

You can read the full Leica X1 Review (and his conclusions about the price, high ISO image quality, auto focus speed and who will — and who won’t — love the X1) over at: SteveHuff Photo.
