Thought we’d have some fun and create a T Shirt for all those who would like to own a Leica M9 but cannot afford it (or would rather spend the money somewhere else). We have a Man or Woman T Shirt, white with a steel-grey M9 printed at just below chest height, where a camera would naturally hang from a shoulder strap. It looks good if you just pretend you’re holding it in one hand. Makes a great gag gift, though beware it might cause your spouse’s heart to stop when s/he hears, “Honey, I bought a Leica!” Or use it as a hint for what you’d really like to receive this Holiday Season.

Luminous Landscape has published their hands-on preview of the Leica S2 [QuickPrice Check], a “compact” medium format (36 x 24mm) digital SLR camera with 37.5MP resolution (30X45mm CCD), ISO 100-1600, continuous shooting 1.5fps, weather-sealed construction, and optional vertical grip.

The Leica M9 is an 18MP full-frame (23.9 x 35.8 mm) digital rangefinder camera, an upgrade of the Leica M8 (which uses an APS-C size sensor), and the digital version of the 35mm film Leica M7.

Full-Frame Sensor
The full-frame sensor is made by Kodak specifically for the Leica M9. To avoid the problems encountered on the M8 which apparently used a UR/IR filter that was too thin, the M9 uses a thicker UR/IR filter in front of the sensor.

Being full-frame, the sensor also enables the use of Leica lenses at their specified focal length without a multiplier. Currently, the Leica M9 can therefore boast to be the world’s smallest full-frame digital camera system. That is, until other digital camera manufacturers follow suit with their own models.
