July 22, 2009, Mississauga, ON – Fujifilm today announces the launch of TWO new A-Series compact digital cameras: the A170 and A235. These two models are a welcome addition to the extremely popular A-series range of easy-to-use, high quality yet cost-conscious compact digital cameras.

As with other A-Series models, both the A170 and A235 are affordable, quality digital cameras, packed full of technology you need to take a good picture. The 10 megapixel sensor on the A170 and the 12 megapixel sensor on the A235 both produce bright, detailed pictures of extraordinary high resolution and clarity. Both cameras perform well in low light and can shoot at up to ISO 1600, providing crisp, well-exposed photographic memories of your family and friends.

Panorama Mode
It is often difficult to capture the full beauty of a sweeping landscape or a picture of a large group of people, at a wedding for example. Now in the A170 and A235 you can easily create impressive panoramic photos. Panorama Mode captures and combines up to 3 consecutive shots seamlessly, making one large panoramic shot.

Intelligent Scene Recognition
The A170 and A235 both have Intelligent Scene Recognition – the first A-Series models to feature this technology. ISR AUTO cleverly detects a scene without needing to pre-select the mode on the camera. Fujifilm has developed proprietary technology which intelligently identifies and recognizes 6 different scenes – Portrait, Landscape, Macro, Backlit Portrait, Night and Night Portrait. Once the scene in the frame has been detected, the camera will optimize the settings to capture the most stunning photo of your chosen subject. Portrait Mode works in conjunction with Face Detection technology to get the best possible portraits.

Picture Stabilization Mode
Also featuring Fujifilm’s Picture Stabilization Mode, both models allow you to wave goodbye to blurry pictures; this technology will produce pin-sharp pictures, time after time.

Power is Easy
Remembering to charge your batteries need never be a problem. Operating on two standard AA batteries, the A170 and A235 have exceptionally low power consumption. The A170 is expected to be available to Canadian consumers in September 2009 at a suggested retail price of $99.99 and the A235 at CAD $119.99. The FinePix A170 will be offered in Silver and the A235 in Black and they both come with a 2 Year Canadian Manufacturer’s Warranty.

Slim (21.9 mm), AA Battery Powered Digital Still Cameras Shine with 10-MP and 12-MP, 3x Optical Zoom and SR AUTO

Valhalla, N.Y., July 22, 2009 – FUJIFILM U.S.A. Inc. today announced the launch of two new entry-level digital cameras – the A170 and A220. Designed specifically for consumers seeking an affordable, user-friendly upgrade to their current digital camera, the A170 and A220 encompass all the necessary features essential to today’s users. These include the SR Auto Mode (Automatic Scene Recognition), Panoramic Shooting Mode, Face Detection technology and come in at a slim 21.9 mm for quick, convenient, photography on the go.

The 10-MegaPixel A170 and 12-MegaPixel A220 both feature a 3.0x optical zoom lens that was developed specifically for the A-series by Fujinon and a large, 2.7”, 230k-pixel resolution LCD. They also offer Fujifilm’s Picture Stabilization with ISO levels of up to 1600 that automatically chooses the correct light sensitivity and compatible shutter speed, producing the highest quality digital pictures without blur and noise.

Automatic Scene Recognition
Both the A170 and A220 feature Fujifilm’s new SR Auto Mode (Automatic Scene Recognition), which enables the cameras to intelligently recognize six types of scenes automatically. For each picture taken in this mode, the cameras will optimize the ideal exposure, focus, white balance and ISO for the scene to ensure the best quality picture is captured with ease.

Other noteworthy features found on the A170 and A220 include:

• Face Detection Technology: Fujifilm’s renowned Face Detection Technology comes standard in both models.
• Panoramic Shooting Mode: Captures and combines up to three consecutive shots, creating one large panoramic shot.
• Movie Mode: Captures movies with zoom and sound at 30 frames per second with sound.
• Internal Memory: When the SD memory card (sold separately) is filled with images, users have extra internal storage space approx. 20MB on each camera to capture additional pictures.
• AA Battery: Using AA batteries is often most convenient for on-the-go digital camera users as it eliminates the need to charge battery packs, allowing for lots of picture-taking and the ease of battery replacement.
