  • Version 2.0.7 for EOS-1D X,
  • Version 1.3.9 for EOS-1D C and
  • Version 1.3.3 for EOS 5D Mark III.

Please note: the firmware update for the EOS-1D C cannot be downloaded – to obtain the update the camera must be returned to a Canon Regional Competence Centre (RCC) or taken to an authorised Canon Repair Centre.   • Canon’s Festival activities will culminate on Monday, January 26 with a special hosted screening of Bending the Light as part of Canon’s corporate presentation and not an official selection of the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. This documentary honoring the artistry of creating a lens and the visual artists who use them from acclaimed director Michael Apted (The ‘Up’ series, The World is Not Enough, Gorillas in the Mist). The 60-minute film explores the relationship between master craftsmen who shape lenses and the masters of light who use these lenses for image capture – each an artisan in their own right. Bending the Light features never-before-seen footage from inside Canon’s lens factory in Japan and intimate interviews with award-winning photographers and cinematographers, including Stephen Goldblatt, ASC, BSC (Get on Up, The Help), who will participate in a Q&A immediately following the screening.

“In rare instances, it is possible that units of the Potentially Affected Products may exhibit the following operation errors, depending on usage conditions, due to insufficient contact between the camera’s battery terminal and the battery, even when the battery has sufficient power remaining:

  • the message “Charge the battery” appears immediately,
  • the power sometimes does not turn on, and
  • the power turns off during use.”

If your camera exhibits the phenomenon described in this announcement, your camera, battery pack and battery charger will be inspected, and repaired or replaced with a refurbished product (in Canon’s sole discretion), FREE of charge.

  • Moreover, if you paid repair fees to have your camera repaired specifically for this phenomenon, Canon will refund the fee paid, subject to Canon’s confirmation that the repair was performed.
