The Sony DSC-P100 Cyber-shot has 5.1-megapixel
resolution, a Carl Zeiss branded lens at 3x optical
zoom, and macro focus at 10 cm (3.9 in.). It has
a nice shutter speed range, allowing you to go
as long as 30 sec. in Manual mode.
The Sony P100 is a point-and-shoot digital camera
with Programmed Auto mode, some manual control
over exposure compensation, aperture and shutter
speed, and scene modes to make taking shots in
various common situations a snap. An AF Illuminator
helps with low-light focusing. Movie size is 640x480
at 30fps using Memory Stick PRO media. You can
even display a histogram in both capture and playback
modes.
If you are one of those who love to add accessories,
you can screw on filters (30mm) using the optional
VAD-PHB adaptor. Other optional accessories include
wide-angle and telephoto conversion lenses, carrying
case, table top tripod and docking station.
The Sony DSC-P100 is PictBridge compatible,
allowing you to print directly to a printer without
going through a computer. The Sony
DSC-P150 is similar to the P100, but has
7.2 megapixels resolution and sells for about
$100 more.
