Point-and-Shoot
The
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W1 not only looks great
in a small package (you even have a choice of
silver or black body), it also uses high-end Carl
Zeiss optics and a 1/1.8-in. image sensor with
5.1 effective megapixel resolution to capture
great images.
Feature-wise,
the Sony W1 is similar to the Sony
P100 with 3x optical zoom, an AF Illuminator
to help achieve focus in low-light situations,
up to 30 sec. shutter speed in manual mode for
capturing night shots, burst mode to capture fast
moving subjects. New is an extra large 2.5 in.
LCD monitor for easy framing and review of images.
A nod toward the pros: you can even display a
live histogram during Capture and Playback.
The
Sony W1 allows the addition of optional wide-angle
and telephoto lenses, and even the use of filters
(30mm); the VAD-WA adaptor is required. The W1
is PictBridge compatible, allowing direct printing
from the camera to any PictBridge compatible printer.
The
Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W1 should appeal to
both amateur and professional photographers looking
for an ultra compact high resolution take anywhere
digital camera.
