Nikon Canada Announces COOLPIX P50
A photographic tool combining performance, intuitive operation,

Mississauga, ON, August 30, 2007 - Nikon Canada Inc. today introduced the COOLPIX P50, a compact digital camera which blends photographic performance, traditional camera styling and operating stability with an advanced feature set that conservative camera users can truly enjoy. Built on Nikon's innovative EXPEED™ advanced digital image processing system and incorporating the precision optics of a NIKKOR lens, the COOLPIX P50 is built for optimum performance and superior image quality.
The COOLPIX P50 combines 8.1 megapixels of resolution and a new digital image-processing engine for outstanding imaging performance. The COOLPIX P50 also features a 3.6x Zoom-NIKKOR lens with 28mm wide-angle capability that covers a range from panoramic landscapes to close-up portraits.
Electronic Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization technology enhances the shooting experience by counteracting the effects of camera shake or movement by unsteady subjects to realize sharper results. Extended light sensitivity up to ISO 2000 further helps prevent blurred shots when shooting in lower light conditions or when capturing fast-moving subjects.
From its functional body design with stable grip and rubberized thumb rest to the intuitive operation of its Mode dial, the COOLPIX P50 is a versatile photographic tool that is ready to handle a wide variety of shooting styles. Its optical viewfinder enables accurate compositions, even in bright sunlight conditions, making it a handy complement to the bright 2.4-inch LCD monitor. The COOLPIX P50 power is supplied by readily available AA-size batteries, which means the COOLPIX P50 can be used in virtually any location without worrying about recharging or running out of power.

The COOLPIX P50 will be available from Nikon Canada Authorized Dealers, in Autumn 2007, with an MSRP of CDN $279.95 [US $229].

The COOLPIX P50 is ready to go right out of the box, including all essential accessories, such as batteries, A/V and USB cables, and Nikon’s Software Suite for transferring and organizing photos. COOLPIX P50 is supplied with two Energizer™ lithium AA-size batteries. Rechargeable batteries and battery charger can be purchased separately.
