Nikon Canada Announces
Three Additions to "L-Series"
Compact Cameras
New COOLPIX digital cameras
offer simplicity and convenience in a sophisticated,
compact body
Mississauga, ON, February 20, 2007
- Nikon Canada Inc., today announced the
addition of six new COOLPIX models to its
line-up of affordably priced point-and-shoot
digital cameras with advanced features.
Four new compact digital cameras join the
"S" series, and two are added
to the "L" series.
Nikon Canada Inc. today announced three
new models in its entry-level COOLPIX "L-Series"
of digital cameras. The COOLPIX L12, COOLPIX
L11, and COOLPIX L10 combine distinctive
lightweight design and superior performance
with ease of operating, giving even first-time
users the ability to take great-looking
pictures.
The COOLPIX L12, COOLPIX L11, and COOLPIX
L10, with 7.1, 6.0, and 5.0 effective megapixels
respectively, capture true-to-life colour
and retain fine detail and sharpness even
when images are significantly enlarged.
The versatile 3x Nikkor-Zoom lens gives
COOLPIX L12 a focal range of 35-105mm*,
while equipping COOLPIX L11 and COOLPIX
L10 with a focal range of 37.5-112.5mm*,
ideal for capturing closely composed portraits
or wide-open views.
The L12 offers the added advantage of optical
lens shift Vibration Reduction (VR), which
helps overcome camera shake and produce
clearer, steadier images. Active upon power-up,
VR also automatically stabilizes images
on the LCD monitor, making it easier to
choose the right moment to shoot. The L12
offers an Anti-Shake button, which simultaneously
activates lens shift VR, as well as High-Sensitivity
mode and BSS (Best Shot Selector), for sharper
results.
Understanding the challenges presented
to photographers by lower light conditions
and fast-moving subjects, Nikon's new COOLPIX
L-Series cameras offer impressive ISO sensitivity
at up to ISO 1600 for COOLPIX L12, and up
to 800 ISO for COOLPIX L11 and COOLPIX L10.
Each of the new COOLPIX L-Series models
feature Nikon Image Iinnovations, which
can help anyone improve images in-camera.
The Face-priority AF** feature automatically
detects and focuses on human faces in the
frame, while In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically
overcomes the red-eye effect sometimes caused
by flash photography. Nikon's D-Lighting
feature can rescue underexposed images or
shots taken with too much backlight by creating
a copy of the image and adding light and
detail where necessary, while leaving properly
exposed areas alone.
Composing and sharing images is easy with
the large, bright LCD monitors found on
each of the new COOLPIX L-Series models;
(COOLPIX L12: 2.5-inch, COOLPIX L11: 2.4-inch
and COOLPIX L10: 2.0-inch). Each camera
is packaged with Nikon's exclusive PictureProject
software, which makes it easy to transfer,
organize, edit and share photos with family
and friends. PictureProject software is
powerful, yet exceptionally easy to use.

The COOLPIX L10, L11 and L12 will be available
mid-March, with approximate pricing of $159.95,
