Eye-Fi’s Wireless Memory Cards for Digital Cameras Come to Canada
In time for the Holidays, Eye-Fi Partners Exclusively with Black’s Photo Retailer to Sell Eye-Fi Home and Eye-Fi Share Cards
Mountain View, CA Nov. 18, 2008 – Today, Eye-Fi, Inc. (www.eye.fi), makers of the world’s first wireless memory cards for digital cameras, announced that its Eye-Fi Share and Eye-Fi Home cards are now available in Canada. The cards are available exclusively at Black’s Photography online and retail locations across Canada, and from www.eye.fi.
“Digital cameras have made it extremely easy to capture memories, but the process of getting images off your camera and sharing them is a hassle,” said Jef Holove, chief executive officer of Eye-Fi. “Eye-Fi cards make it effortless, so you can get to the fun part of sharing and printing your photos while those memories are still fresh. We’re excited to expand into Canada and let even more people enjoy the ‘magic’ of Eye-Fi.”
Eye-Fi cards use Wi-Fi networks to automatically send photographs directly from digital cameras to users’ computers, and to online photo sharing, printing and social networking sites. In Canada, users can automatically upload photos to one of 25 online photo sharing, printing and social networking sites, including Shutterfly, Flickr, Kodak Gallery and Facebook. In the near future, Eye-Fi users will also be able to upload to www.Blackphoto.com for printing, archiving and sharing.
Eye-Fi cards work with existing and new SD-compatible digital cameras. They include 2GB of memory and store photos like a conventional SD memory card.
“Eye-Fi responds to our customers’ needs for effortless ways to take and share photos,” said Russ Bricker, Black’s senior vice president of merchandise and services. “We’re thrilled to have Eye-Fi cards in our stores in time for the holidays.”
Priced at $99.99 CDN, the Eye-Fi Home card allows users to upload photos automatically from their digital camera, directly to their home computer. Priced at $119.99 CDN, the 2GB Eye-Fi Share card allows users to send photos to their PC or Mac, and to the Web. In the near future, Eye-Fi users will also be able to upload to Black’s photo for printing.
