I echo the view expressed in this review on my site, http://dslrcamerasearch.com/2010/12/canon-rebel-review/ but I include the 500D as a great buy. It has much the same features but with the release of the 550D it became almost bargain level for me. I bought the 500D and am very happy with every aspect. Why would any amateur pay so much more money for extra FPS and a rugged brick?
