CANON CANADA ANNOUNCES EXCLUSIVE CANADIAN ENDORSEMENT CONTRACT WITH MUSIC SUPERSTAR AVRIL LAVIGNE
Canadian pop/rock icon to appear in a series of advertisements and promotional materials for imaging industry heavyweight Canon Canada
MISSISSAUGA, ON, October 20, 2008 - Canon Canada has announced a new Canadian endorsement contract with platinum-selling, Juno Award winning and Grammy nominated recording artist Avril Lavigne.
The agreement will see Lavigne featured in a series of advertisements and promotional materials for Canon Canada, including two television commercials that will debut on various Canadian television stations today. The two commercials will promote Canon’s Rebel line of digital SLR cameras and ELPH line of compact point-and-shoot cameras. In addition, Lavigne will be promoting the full range of products from Canon’s consumer imaging line in the future months.
“Working with Canon Canada is truly exciting for me, as I’m a huge photography fan,” says Lavigne about the new agreement. “I've used Canon cameras for many years, so working with Canon Canada is truly exciting for me. Canon and Lavigne made the announcement as part of a press launch event in Toronto earlier this afternoon. The event featured the Canadian debut of the two television commercials and the launch of a new Canon microsite (www.shootlikeastar.ca), where fans have an opportunity to upload their own personal photos and personalize them with various images and accessories from the commercials, including tiaras, feathery boas and balloons. The site also features a brand new online promotion in which visitors can enter for a chance to win an EOS Canon Rebel Digital SLR camera or PowerShot Digital ELPH camera.
The press event provided Lavigne with an opportunity to interact with a number of her fans, personally invited to attend the event by Canon Canada.
