last, a Pentax digital camera we can include in
our favorite list. The folks at Pentax has managed
to make a digital camera that fits into a shirts
pocket. The Pentax Optio S is only 3.3 (W) x 2.0
(H) x 0.8 (D) in. and weighs 4.1 oz. Pentax has
managed to include a 3x optical zoom into such
a thin body (move cursor over picture above for
a top view) by some clever engineering: the middle
portion of the lens moves up and slides back as
the lens retracts into the body.
Pentax
has cleverly marketed the Optio S as the digital
camera that fits in a tin of Altoids mint. This
catchy image is reminiscent of some of Pentax's
Spotmatic F ads way back: one image that is worth
a thousand words. With the Optio S, Pentax seems
to be signalling its return as an innovative camera
manufacturer.
