The Pentax K20D DSLR has 14.6MP resolution
on a newly developed APS-sized (23.5mm x 15.6mm) CMOS image sensor
with Sensor Shift Shake Reduction and Dust Reduction.
Since it is sensor-based, image stabilization is compatible with any PENTAX lens ever produced, including new SDM lenses. The Shake Reduction
system offers a 2.5 to 4 stop advantage.
Pentax claims its Enhanced Dynamic Range mode gives 200% more dynamic range and an improved noise reduction system that allows the use of a high ISO 6400.
A new extra large 2.7-in.
LCD monitor now features Live View. A
high 230,000 pixels resolution and a 160° horizontal/vertical wide angle viewing provide easy viewing from any angle. It also
features a glass pentaprism viewfinder that offers
a 95 percent field of view and a 95X magnification
-- with a large, bright and clear view.
The PENTAX K20D's weather and dust resistant body features
special seals applied to different areas of
the camera body to allow shooting in harsh conditions. To prevent dust from
collecting on the image sensor, an improved Dust Reduction
system features prevention, removal and alerting devices. For those times when manual sensor cleaning is required, the dust alert system displays on the LCD the location of dust on the sensor to allow precise removal.
Continuous shooting is at 3fps (38 JPG and Continuous Hi, 14 RAW PEF, 16 RAW DNG).
The Pentax K20D has a great feature set
and demanding photo enthusiasts will find lots to like for nature/landscape and studio photography. The weather sealing also makes this a great camera for travel photography.
