Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS1 / TZ6

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS1 / TZ6
Mouseover image for back view

Category: Point-and-Shoot

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS1 / TZ6 features a 12x ultra wide-angle optical zoom Leica DC lens (25mm-300mm equiv.) in one of the smallest body for an ultra zoom. And you do not even need a lens cap: the lens retracts into the stylish body with an integrated lens barrier protecting it. The long zoom reach allows you to bring distant subjects close while the ultra wide-angle lens allows you to include all your friends in the picture or capture an architectural or expansive landscape in a single shot. MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) helps reduce camera shake at the long focal lengths.

The ZS1 records 848 x 480 video @ 30fps with mono sound. The 12x optical zoom is available during video recording.

Intelligent Auto Technology (iA) combines 6 detection functions (Subject Detection, Shake Detection, Motion Detection, Face Detection, Scene Detection and Light Detection) to let the camera select the best mode and exposure.

A high resolution (230K dots) large 2.7-in. LCD monitor with a wide viewing angle makes composition easy. The Auto Power LCD function adjusts the backlight brightness in 11 steps according to the ambient light intensity.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS1 / TZ6 improves on the award-winning Panasonic TZ5 with more zoom and practical features to make oyur photography even more versatile.

For about $100 more, you can also purchase the DMC-ZS3 / TZ7 which has a 3.0-in. (460K dots) LCD and records HD movie with stereo Dolby sound.

If you are looking for the slimmest and most compact power zoom digital camera, for about $20 less, you can purchase the DMC-ZR1 / ZX1 which has 8x optical zoom, a 2.7-in. (230K dots) LCD, and records HD movie with mono sound -- and, at only 26mm (1.02 in.) thick, is about 7cm thinner than the ZS1 / TZ6.
