The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ3
has a luxurious touch with its stylish design
and metallic, stainless-steel exterior. New is
an integrated lens barrier instead of a too-easily-lost
lens cap. It features a 10x wide-angle optical
zoom Leica DC lens (equivalent to a 28mm-280mm
zoom on a 35mm film camera) in one of the smallest
body for an ultra zoom. The long zoom reach allows
you to bring distant subjects close while the
wide-angle lens allows you to include all your
friends in the picture or capture an architectural
or expansive landscape in a single shot.
The TZ3 features the MEGA O.I.S.
(Optical Image Stabilizer) system to fight against
hand-shake, the major cause of blurry images.
In addition, the TZ3 compensates for the other
major cause of blurry images --subject movement
-- with the Intelligent ISO Control function which
detects subject movement and adjusts the ISO setting
and shutter speed to best suit the movement and
light conditions automatically. Together, they
form Intelligent Image Stabilizer.
Venus Engine III in the TZ3 allows
high-sensitivity recording up to ISO 1250 at full
resolution with an improved noise reduction system
which maintains high resolution.
A high resolution (230K pixels)
extra large 3.0-in. LCD monitor makes composition
easy. You can also display two photos side by
side for comparison in playback. A handy Clipboard
function allows you to snap important documents
such as passports, maps, schedule, etc. and store
them for instant retrieval.
Battery life is approximately 270
pictures on a single charge (CIPA standard).
The TZ3 is compatible with the optional
marine case DME-MCTZ3 which is safe to a depth
of 40 meters.
If you like the idea of an image
stablized long zoom with a wide-angle coverage
in a relatively compact body, the Panasonic
Lumix DMC-TZ3 may just be what you need --
now available in black, silver or blue.
