The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2
features a real wide 16:9 Aspect Ratio CCD with
10.2-Megapixel Resolution in a compact and elegantly
designed black body. It features a 4x optical
zoom with a 28 to 112mm wide-angle capability
(35mm equivalent) that should allow capturing
more of a scene (or group shot) than standard
35mm lens is capable of.
The Panasonic LX2 is choked full
of features: 60-1/2,000 sec. shutter speed range
(in Manual Mode), real-time histogram, grid lines
to aid in keeping the horizontal level, Scene
Modes to automate exposure setting in various
situations, an extra large 2.8 in. high resolution
(207K pixels) LCD monitor (no viewfinder), and
of course the image stabilized Leica lens all
the Panasonic digital cameras have becomed famous
for. Macro focus is at 5 cm (2 in.).
New is Intelligent ISO Control that
analyzes speed of subject movement and automatically
adjusts ISO (up to ISO 1600) and shutter speed
to help reduce blurring caused by sublect movement.
The Panasonic LX2 has full exposure
flexibility with Program AE, Program Shift (P
mode), Aperture Priority AE, Shutter Priority
AE, and full Manual. A long shutter speed of 60
sec. is available in Manual mode for night photography.
It can save images in the RAW file format.
Other improvements over the Lumix
DMC-LX1 that it replaces are: negligible shutter
lag, longer battery life (300 shots per charge),
faster AF, selectable AF Area, 2 Axis White Balance
adjustment, and a 2.8-in. LCD monitor to adequately
display 16:9 scenes and which automatically increases
the brightness level of live images according
to the level of ambient darkness.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2
is targeted to serious and advanced amateur photographers
desiring a compact digital camera, yet packed
with professional features such as full exposure
flexibility, a wide-angle lens, fast operations,
and image stabilization.
