The Panasonic Lumix DMC-LS2 is compact,
well-designed and easy-to-use. It features a 3x
optical zoom [Lumix] DC-Vario lens (35 105mm,
35mm equivalent) and 5MP resolution.
Macro mode allows you to get as close as 5 cm
(2 in.). 14 Scene Modes make the Panasonic LS2
straightforward to use. The LCD is 2.0 in. with
85,000 pixels resolution and movie mode is 320x240
pixels 30fps, no audio. A 1-area high-speed autofocus
makes for a fast AF. A special Baby scene mode
allows you to date and time stamp baby's pictures.
Included in the box are a wrist strap and 2 Panasonic
long-life Oxyride batteries. You can also use
2 regular AA Alkaline or rechargeable NiMH batteries.
No memory card is supplied but there are 14MB
of internal memory. The camera is ready to go
right out of the box.
The Panasonic LS2 is very affordable and
easy-to-use. Image quality is average and on the
noisy side. It would be suitable for entry-level
and first-time digital camera users who will be
mostly printing at 4x6 in. and displaying for
the Web. To many, the very effective Image Stabilizer
will be the main selling point: it helps avoid
blurred pictures due to camera shake.
