The Panasonic Lumix DMC-L10 DSLR has unique features for a digital SLR:

1. 10.1MP full-time Live MOS Image Sensor that permits live composition of the picture on the 2.5-in. Live View LCD with a high 207,000 pixels resolution.
2. Full-time Live View works just like on a non-DSLR digital camera, which means you can adjust the white balance and compensate for the exposure and see the changes on the LCD. It also means you can focus using Contrast AF without the DSLR mirror having to come down to permit focusing. Contrast AF also allows Face Detection.
3. The usual faster Phase Difference Detect AF is still available when using the optical viewfinder.
4. The LCD is free-angle, rotates 180° from side to side and tilts 270° up and down.
5. Optical Image Stabilization (OIS) compensates for camera shake. Intelligent ISO compensates for subject movement.
6. Dust Reduction System using a Supersonic Wave Filter vibrates to remove dust and other particles from the front of the image sensor every time you turn on the camera.

The Panasonic L10 DSLR provides full exposure flexibility for the advanced photographers as well as 10 Scene Modes for beginner photographers. It accepts SD/SDHC memory cards.

A new kit lens comes standard : the superb Leica D Vario-Elmarit 14-50mm (28-100mm, 35mm equivalent) F3.8-5.6 lens that has built-in optical image stabilization and weighs 434g (15.3 oz). Closest focusing distance is 11.42 inches (0.29 m).

Being part of the Four-Thirds System, the Panasonic L10 will, of course, accept any of the lenses built specially with the Four Thirds Mount. Note, however, that currently only the aforementioned Leica lens takes full advantage of the full-time capability of the Live View feature. In other words, only the Leica lens will focus using Contrast Detect AF; the other Four Thirds system lenses will focus using only Phase Difference Detect AF.

The Panasonic L10 DSLR has gathered together features that photographers who have been using non-DSLR cameras only will appreciate as they make the transition to the DSLR world. Yet, it still retains the full exposure flexibility prized by advanced photographers.
