Photoxels Editor's Choice 2009 - Digital Interchangeable Lens
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This Panasonic GF1 Review is based on a production
model. All sample images are unretouched, except
where specified.

Panasonic was first to reveal the new Digital Interchangeable Lens system with the Lumix DMC-G1; Olympus generated the buzz with its retro look E-P1; and now Panasonic has caught up -- and done it right -- with the Lumix DMC-GF1.
The Panasonic GF1 has a modern, sleek, all-black design. Handling is excellent and image quality is very good in both good and low light. The GF1 has fixed the shortcomings that photographers complained about concerning the Olympus E-P1: the GF1 features fast autofocus in all lighting situations, has a built-in flash, has a high resolution LCD screen, and comes with an optional electronic Live Viewfinder that can be used with all lenses.
The expert reviews are in and are in large part positively ecstatic. It is, in so many ways, the compact digital camera with large sensor that enthusiats have been clamoring and waiting for.
When faced with the need to upgrade from a compact digicam to a DSLR, many beginners balk at the size, weight and relative complexity of the DSLR. Now, they have a choice: the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 marries the best of the DSLR and compact digicam worlds to give us the image quality and performance we expect from a DSLR and the ease of use and compactness of the digicam. So, if you are not sure about getting a DSLR, try the Panasonic GF1. Find out why many reviewers have gone and gotten one for themselves.
