EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

This Panasonic FZ70 Review is based on a production model. All sample images are unretouched, except where specified.

Zoom versatility. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ70 packs a punch in a DSLR-styled digital camera with features that should appeal to everyone and especially two groups: travel photographers who want to capture shots ranging from 1 cm macro closeups, to wide vistas and super tele shots; and beginner students of photography who need a camera with all the important manual functions, ultra wide-angle and super tele focal lengths.

The Panasonic FZ70 handles well with a deep handgrip and control buttons and dials for the important functions. The large 3.0-in. LCD with a 460k-dot resolution is clear and bright.

Image quality for a small sensor camera is very good up to ISO 200 with ISO 400 and 800 very usable at small Web sized display. Continuous Shooting is 9fps at full resolution.

The FZ70 shoots Full HD Movie 1920 x 1080/60i with stereo sound. You can select your preferred shooting mode: iA, PASM, Scene mode and even PASM for movie recording. You can also take one still image (3.5-megapixel at 16:9) without interrupting video recording.

Creative filters for stills and movies add to the fun of using this camera.

The Panasonic FZ70 is a super zoom camera that both beginners and travel photographers will enjoy using. Its versatile zoom range means that there is not too many photographic situations that you cannot capture. Recommended.
