Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7

Photoxels Editor's Choice 2006 Award Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 wins DIWA Gold Award Panasonic FZ7 wins DIWA Platinum Award

Category: Beginner to Serious Amateur

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 replaces the award-winning FZ5 and improves on the latter with 6MP resolution and an extra larger 2.5 in. LCD monitor. It adopts the overall form and shape of the FZ30 with more rounded corners.

Improvements over the FZ5 are:

  • Program Shift.
  • Mega Burst of up to 13 images at 3 or 2 frames/sec.
  • 2.5 in. LCD monitor (114K pixels).
  • A joystick on the back for quick change of exposure settings and Manual Focus (also new)..
  • A very interesting 16:9 format movie mode.
  • A slow shutter speed of up to 60 sec. in Manual Mode.
  • A couple of extra scene modes.
  • Optional wide-angle, tele and close-up lenses, and filters.
  • A High Sensitivity scene mode that simulates ISO 800 and 1600 (at lower resolutions).

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ7 offers a great package and should appeal to those desiring a long image stabilized zoom in a compact body. And, it's compact and light enough to take anywhere, especially to outdoors sports events.
