The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50
is targeted to serious amateur photographers with
10.1 megapixels resolution, 12x optical zoom that
is image stabilized, a Leica lens with a maximum
aperture of F2.8, and macro as close as 5 cm (2
in.).
A new feature is "Intelligent
ISO Control" which will adjust the ISO automatically
(up to ISO 1600) to allow the camera to use a
fast enough shutter speed to freeze action when
photographing moving subjects, such as children.
In addition to a manual zoom ring
and a manual focus ring, the DMC-FZ50 is also
equipped with a shutter speed command dial (back
of camera) and aperture command dial (front of
camera) for faster manual operation.
It has full flexible exposure control,
scene modes, program shift, shutter speed range
from 8 sec to 1/2,000 sec. (up to 60 sec. in Manual
mode), a large Free-angle 2 in. high resolution
LCD monitor that swivels and brightens in low
light, and an AF Assist Lamp to aid focusing in
low-light situations. You can shoot consecutive
shots until the memory card is full.
Other features include selectable
AF Area, 2-axis White Balance adjustment to handle
scenes using different types of light sources;
2 types of composition guidelines (horizontal-vertical
and horizontal-vertical-diagonal); real-time histograms;
optional remote shutter.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50
comes in two flavours: all black body, or a very
attractive silver and black body. To the advanced
photographers, it can save images in RAW file
format, displays a real-time histogram, and accepts
an external flash. A manual focus ring lets you
manually adjust the focus from 30cm (0.98 feet)
to infinity.
The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ50
will appeal to the serious and advanced photographer
desiring an ultra-zoom digital camera with full
exposure flexibility -- and Panasonic's advanced
MEGA Optical Image Stabilizer technology.
