The Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5
replaces the popular FZ3, and improves with 5MP
resolution and a slightly larger 1.8 in. LCD monitor.
However, depending on how you want
to look at it, it may be better to view the FZ5
as essentially the FZ20 in a smaller compact body.
Major differences between the FZ20
and the FZ5:
The FZ20 has a F2.8 aperture from wide to
telephoto; the FZ5 has F2.8 at wide, and F3.3
at tele.
The FZ20 has a manual focus ring; the FZ5
does not.
The FZ20 has a 2 in. LCD monitor (130K pixels);
the FZ5 has a 1.8 in. LCD monitor (130K pixels).
The FZ20 is relatively large and heavy; the
FZ5 retains the incredibly compact FZ3 body!
Just like the FZ3 and the FZ20,
the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5 offers a great
package and should appeal to those desiring a
long image stabilized zoom in a compact body.
And, it's compact and light enough to take anywhere,
especially to outdoors sports events.
If you like sharp images with saturated
colours right out of the camera, check out the
Panasonic FZ5. The FZ4 has 4MP resolution and
a 1.5 in. LCD monitor and retails at about US
$50 less than the FZ5. Note that the FZ4 comes
in silver body only.
