Olympus C-770 UZ Review

Review Date: July 12, 2004
Olympus Camedia C-770 Ultra Zoom

Category: Beginner to Serious Amateur

The Olympus Camedia C-770 Ultra Zoom sports a 10x optical zoom with a 35mm format equivalent of 38-380mm. It has 4.0 megapixels resolution, Program Auto, Aperture-Priority, Shutter-Priority, and full Manual modes. If you like to get in close, macro focus is at 3 cm (1.2 in.). Maximum aperture is F2.8 and shutter speeds range from 1 sec. (manual 16 sec.) - 1/1,000 sec.

The Olympus C-770 has clean elegant lines, with a built-in pop-up flash. It also has a dedicated hotshoe for the use of an external flash. It records MPEG-4 QuickTime movie at 30fps, limited only by the size of your memory card.

The Olympus C-770 is PictBridge-compliant which means that you can connect directly to any PictBridge-enabled printer (of any brand) via USB for quick and convenient printing of your images, without needing to go through a computer.

Optional accessories for the Olympus C-770 include a wide-angle converter and a teleconverter lens.

[Editor's Note: The Olympus Camedia C-765 Ultra Zoom is practically similar to the C-770 but does not have a hotshoe and records movie at 15fps.]
