The Olympus Stylus 600 Digital is compact
and easy-to-use, plus its all-weather construction
adds a new dimension to its fun factor. Protective
seals keep the Olympus Stylus 600 safe when used
in rain, snow or at sea. With the addition of
an optional underwater housing, you will also
be able to take this camera on underwater excursions.
The Olympus Stylus 600 starts up in about 2 sec.
and there is no practical shutter lag. An extra
large 2.5 in. LCD with Olympus' exclusive Bright
Capture Technology makes it extremely easy to
view and compose shots in low levels of ambient
light. It is, in fact, the best LCD "gain
up" implementation we've seen so far.
If you are looking for a take-anywhere digital
camera mostly for 4x6 in. prints and the occasional
large print, the Olympus Stylus 600 has 6.0 MP
resolution and 3x optical zoom. It also allows
you to shoot at a high ISO 800 and 1600 in low-light
situations, but at a reduced resolution of 1600
x 1200 pixels.
Its 26 Shooting Modes (Program Auto, 24 Scene
Modes, Movie with no audio, limited only by memory
card size) gives it a point-and-shoot simplicity,
and PictBridge compatibility means you can print
from your camera directly to any PictBridge-compatible
printer (of any brand) without using a computer.
The Olympus Stylus 600 Digital is pocketable
and well-built, and may just be the ideal companion
for a trekker, camper or globe trotter -- or for
someone who loves the outdoors, rain or shine,
and don't want to leave their camera behind.
